The Piscataqua Maritime Commission is a non-profit (501(c)(3) organization dedicated to the promotion and preservation of the maritime heritage of the Piscataqua River basin. Our flagship event each summer is Sail PortsmouthTM, bringing tall ships to the NH Seacoast. Our all-volunteer Board, with hundreds of members and volunteers, have successfully hosted our tall ship visitors for more than two decades. We strive to make each port call an anticipated event for our region, as well as a rewarding experience for the ship captains and crews.
Proceeds from Sail Portsmouth and the support from our sponsors fund sail training scholarships for area students in our Sea Challenge program.
The PMC sponsors maritime talks, often in partnership with other organizations, throughout the year. These informative and lively programs, free and open to the public, are presented by engaging speakers, addressing topics relevant to our rich maritime history.
